Mary Alderton 1915
On Sunday last occurred the death of little Mary Alderton, about 7 years of age, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Alderton,  Eumungerie. This child recently contracted measles. Pneumonia followed, leaving the sufferer with a bad heart and very weak. Dr. Harrison, of Dubbo, was called out on Saturday, when he could give no hope. The little sufferer was released by death about noon on Sunday. On Monday the body was buried in the Eumungerie cemetery, many friends of the parents and the children of the local Public School (at which the deceased had attended) accompanying. The funeral service, begun at the local Church of England, was completed at the graveside by Rev, Mr. McKeown, of Gilgandra. Much sympathy is felt for the parents and relatives of the little girl,  not alone by their adult friends, but by the children of the town,  who were very fond of their gentle little school mate.  The last look at the face of the dead child was not altogether sad, for the dead features were set in a smile of inexpressible sweetness. The funeral arrangements were in the  hands of Mr. Petterson.
