daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Buck, of Eumungerie.
The remains were interred in the Presbyterian portion
of the Dubbo Cemetery. Mr. A. McCalum read the
burial service, and Mr. J. R. Tighe carried out the funeral

William James Barwick 1934 The death occurred at the Dubbo District Hospital during the holidays of Mr James Barwick, aged 77, a well known resident of Eumungerie, where he had resided with his family for many years. Deceased was admitted to hospital the previous afternoon. He was born at Richmond New South Wales, and is survived by his widow and a grown-up family of five sons and two daughters. The sons are Messrs'. Walter, Albert, Herbert. Frederick and James (Eumungerie), and the daughters are Mrs Burke, and Mrs. E. Wilson (both of Sydney). The body was laid to rest in the Church of England portion of the Dubbo cemetery. John Bramble 1940 The death occurred at the Dubbo District Hospital on Friday, of Mr. John Bramble, a the age of 85 years. The deceased had lived at Mr H. A. H. Brown's "Balgowrie", Eumungerie for many years. He was born in Kent (England), and came to Australia as a young man. He was unmarried. Calverley Berwicke Brown 1951 The death of Mr Calverley Bewicke Brown, of 35 Taylor Street, Dubbo, and formerly of "Wilber" (Gular),. and "Netherby"(Eumungerie) which occurred at Dubbo Base Hospital, removes a member of one of the ]best known pioneering grazing families in the Dubbo district. Born at Deniliquin, the late Mr Brown came to the Dubbo district when a boy, with his parents, Mr and Mrs C. Brown when they took up "Branston" in 1890. Later, at "Wilber" and "Netherby" he successfully carried on grazing until about seven years ago, when he retired to reside in Dubbo. He was a member of the Dubbo P.A. and H. Association for many years and latterly was a keen supporter of the Dubbo Bowling Club. He is survived by his wife ( nee Miss Wheaton, of Eumungerie), and three daughters, Mrs T Brett (Gular), Mrs W Hunter (Galah), and Miss Nell Brown, Dubbo. Mr A. H. Brown "Balgowan" Eumungerie, is a brother and sisters are: Mrs T. C. McMillan (Dubbo), Mrs P. Firth ("Locksley" Warren), Mrs J. Machin (Dubbo), Mrs P. Wheaton (Dubbo) ánd Mrs P. H. Mclnnes ("Waringah," Dubbo). The funeral, which was largely attended, left St. Andrews Presbyterian Church at 3 o'clock for the Presbyterian portion of the Dubbo Cemetery. Peter Bell 1917 THE LINK BROKEN The news of the sudden death of that grand and sturdy son of Scotia and respected and esteemed citizen of the Dubbo district, Mr. Peter Bell, came as a great shock to the residents. The awful suddenness of his end was most appalling, and many refused to credit the news when it was made known. The late Mr. Bell was in Dubbo during the early part of theweek, and on Wednesday returned to Eumungerie with Mr. J. Wheaton in that gentleman's motor car. Deceased lived some little distance from Eumungerie, and started off to walk to his home. He had not proceeded far when a man named Mr. Fred Fardon, who is a share-farmer on property owned by Mr. C. Cadell, of Dubbo, saw him stagger and fall. He at once hurried to his assistance, and asked the prostrate man what was the matter. Placing his hand over his heart, the dying mini said, "The trouble is here." In a few minutes he died in the arms of Mr. Fardon. The late Mr. Bell was a native of the parish of Lochmaben, in Dumfriesshire, the native place of Robert Burns. At the time of his death he was 63 years of age, and was the eldest of the Bell bros., who are respected and honored throughout the length and breadth of the whole Dubbo district. He came to Australia in and at first settled at Hay, in the Riverina district. From there he came to Eumungerie, and settled there in 1892. He never married. The deceased was a man of a retiring nature, a man of sterling worth, a true patriot, a friend worth knowing, and was esteemed and respected by all sections of the community. At the time of his death he was a member of the Masonic body, and was an officer of Lodge Macquarie. He was also a prominent member of the Dubbo District Caledonian Society, and was a welcome contributor at the social functions of that body, where his recitations were always consideredfeatures of the programme. Some three years ago the brothers, Peter, John and James, paid a visit to the land of "heath and shaggy wood," and spent a happy time amongst the scenes of their boyhood days. The Bell brothers were devotedly attached to each other, and the sudden death of the eldest is a shock which has stunned the younger brothers beyond description. They have the sincerest sympathy of everyone acquainted with them in their terrible bereavement. The remains were brought to Dubbo by train on Wednesday afternoon, and taken to the residence of Mr. James Bell, Wingewarra-street. The funeral took place yesterday afternoon, the body being laid to rest in the Presby- terian portion of the general cemetery. The Rev. Stuart Allen read the burial service. A Lodge of Sorrow was held at the Masonic Temple prior to the funeral, and a large number of the Masonic brethren marched in the funeral cortege, which was a truly representative one. Ben Kenworthy Byers 1950 The death of Mr. Ben Kenworthy Byers (77), occurred on July 14 at the Repatriation Hospital, Concord. He was well known in the Eumungerie district having lived there with his family for many years on the property 'Belhaven.' He later moved to Sydney and was residing at Dennis Street, Lakemba prior to his death. He is survived by a wife, one daughter, Mrs. Fred Batten, New Zealand (Alma); one son, Sergeant James Byers (Wellington N.S.W.); one brother Albert (Alectown). The funeral service was at 10 a.m. on July 17, followed by the interment in the Rookwood cemetery. Dubbo Liberal 10th August 1950
Isaac Barwick 1930 The death occurred at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Pye, 8 Tamworth Street, of the 14-months-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Barwick, of Eumungerie, on Tuesday afternoon. The remains were interred in the Church of England portion of the Dubbo Cemetery on Wednesday morning. In the absence of the ministers of the Protestant churches, all of whom were away from town, Pastor Ecob, of the Baptist Church, read the burial service. Shakespeares conducted the funeral. Kenneth William Berwick 1930 DEATH OF A BOY Tho death occurred in the Dubbo District Hospital yesterday of Kenneth William Berwick, the 3½-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. F. Berwick, of Eumungerie. Tho remains were interred in the Church of England portion of the Dubbo cemetery this morning. Rev. C. W. Leavers read the burial service and Shakespears conducted the funeral. FRANCIS WILLIAM BUCK 1931 After an illness of about two months, Francis William Buck passed to his rest last night at the Dubbo District Hospital. Deceased, who was 62 years of ago, was a native of Dubbo, and had resided in the district the whole of his lifetime. In 1912 he left Dubbo and went to the Eumungerie district, where he carried on farming until he was seized with the illness which caused his death. Frank Buck was widely known and had the respect of everyone; he interested himself in all matters for the advancement of the town and district. A faithful husband and loving parent, he leaves a widow and six children — three sons and three daughters — to mourn his loss. The sons are Frank, Keith and Harold (Eumungerie), the daughters, Mrs. Hendry (Coboco), Nurse Buck (Bourke), and Miss Rita Buck (Eumungerie). He is also survived by four brothers— George, Daniel and Edward (Dubbo) and Patrick (Armatree), and three sisters, Mesdames Frazer, Vintini (Sydney), and Miller (Collie). The members of the family have the sympathy of a large circle of friends in their bereavement. The funeral will take place to-morrow (Wednesday) morning, at 10 o'clock. Mr. Edward E. Brown 1948 The death occurred at his property, 'Wilga Plain' Eumungerie, on Monday, of Mr. Edward Ernest Brown, aged 65 years, a well-known grazier. The late Mr. Brown was a returned soldier of World War I. He had lived practically the whole of his life in the district and was widely known and highly respected. He was married at Hunters Hill, Sydney, to Miss Daisie Barrett, who survives. There were no children to the marriage. Members of the original family surviving are: Harry (Eumungerie), Buicke (Dubbo, Mrs. T. C. McMillian (Tamworth Street, Dubbo), Mrs. F. Firth ( Warren). Mrs. Machin (Tamworth Street, Dubbo), Mrs. Phil. Wheaton (Gulargambone) and Mrs. P. H. Mclnness ('Warringa' via Dubbo). The funeral will take place from the Church of England tomorrow at 11 a.m. Interment will be made in the Dubbo cemetery. Canon C. W. Leavers will officiate at the Church and graveside. Catherine Rosetta Bowra 1928 Catherine Rosetta Bowra, aged 79, of Eumungerie, who recently had the misfortune to fall and break her leg, died in the District Hospital on Sunday. The late Mrs Bowra was a native of England, who came to New South Wales when she was 24 years of age and had lived in this State over since, with the exception of three years spent in New Guinea. She came to Eumungerie from Sydney to live with her three sons two or three years ago. Sho also leaves a daughter, Mrs. Byers, who lives at Eumungerie. Her husband predeceased her some years ago. The funeral took place about 12 noon yesterday in the Church of England portion of the cemetery, the Rev. K. Moore officiating at the graveside. The funeral arrangements were inthe hands of Mr. K. Walter Barwick 1953 Mr Walter Barwick, formerly a well-known Dubbo and Eumungerie resident, died at Orange last night after a long illness. He was 73. He was married at Gregara to Miss Elaine Louisa Wilson, who died several years ago. He is survived by one daughter, Muriel (Mrs Alderton of Orange) and six sons, Burt, of Narromine; Walter, of Condobolin; Simeon and Clarence, of Dubbo; and Mervyn and Earl, of Orange. The funeral will leave the Holy Trinity Church, Dubbol at 430 pm on Wednesday for the Church of England portion of the Dubbo cemetery. Messrs. WALTER G. BROWN 1942 The death occurred in the Dubbo District Hospital on Friday evening of Mr. Walter Gentle Brown (72), well known and highly respected grazier of "Goburn," and resident of Dubbo. Deceased had been in New South Wales for 68 years. He went to Dubbo and settled on the family estate at "Branston" in 1890. He married Miss Mary Wheaton of Eumungerie. He is survived by two sons and two daughters, one, Walter Stewart, being overseas with the A.I.F. Messrs. Edward (Eumungerie), Harry (Eumungerie) and Bewicke (Gular) are brothers, and Mrs. P. Wheaton (Gular) is a sister. Following a service at Holy Trinity Church of England, at which the Rev. Canon Leavers officiated, on Saturday afternoon, the remains were taken by road to Sydney, where cremation took place at the Northern Suburbs Crematorium on Monday afternoon. EDWARD BUCK 1932 Mr. Edward Buck, a well-known and highly respected resident who has lived in the Dubbo district all his life, died in the District Hospital yesterday, after a week's illness. The deceased, who was 68 years of age, was a native of Dubbo, and carried out farming pursuits at Eumungerie and Delroy. He leaves a widow, one son (Ellis), three brothers and two sisters, to whom sincere sympathy is extended. The funeral took place to the Catholic portion of the Dubbo cemetery this afternoon, the Rev. Mr. Edward Buck 1932 One of Dubbo's oldest residents, in the person of Edward Buck, passed over last Sunday April 10, at the Dubbo District hospital after an illness extending only for a week. A native of Dubbo, deceased was born 68 years ago, and spent all his life in the district he followed farming pursuits formerly at Eumungerie and lately at "Delroy" Dubbo. His father was the late George Buck, of "Rose Hill," near Troy, who prodeceased his son about 16 years ago. Deceased is survived by a widow and one son (Ellis), aged 16 years. The body was removed to St. Bridgets Catholic Church on Monday morning, where Father Henry conducted a service prior to the funeral in the afternoon to the Dubbo cemetery. Three brothers and three sisters also survive. They are Dan (Warren), George (Dubbo), Paddy Armatree), Mrs T Frazer (Matraville), Mrs F Vitnell (Paddington), and Mrs.A. Miller (Collie). SUSAN ADELAIDE BARWICK 1936 At Dubbo District Hospital, on Saturday, Susan Adelaide Barwick, relict of the late William Barwick, passed to her rest at the age of 80 years. The deceased lady was born at Rich mond and had lived all her life in New South Wales. Her early life was spent at Sherwood Forest, Richmond, and for the past half century she had lived at Eumungerie, where she won the respect of all. Married at Kurrajong, near her birthplace, to the late William Barwick, who predeceased her some years ago, the venerable lady is survived by five sons and two daughters. The sons, all residents of Eumungerie district, are Walter, Albert, Herbert, Frederick and James, and the daughters, Mrs. Bourke (Pearl) Parramatta, and Mrs. Wilson (Lila) Lidcombe. The funeral left Holy Trinity Church at 2.30 yesterday afternoon for the Church of England section of the local cemetery, the Rev. C. W. Leavers con ducting the obsequies. C. J. MR. C. A. BERRUEX 1954 The death of well-known district personality, Mr. Charles August (Gus) Burruex, of Dubbo Street, Warren, occurred at the Dubbo Base Hospital on Sunday at the age of 54. Born at Neuchatel in Switzerland, he migrated to Australia in 1912 and lived at Rooty Hill for seven years before moving to the West where he worked as a motor mechanic at Eumungerie, Dunedoo and Warren. A member of the Masonic Lodge and the MUIOOF he took an active interest in charitable works and was well known throughout the large area. He was married in Dubbo to Miss Eileen Sandell who survives him with two sons Edward and Kenneth. Other members of the family living are his aged mother who lives with his sister Mrs. Dawson at Rooty Hill. Other sisters are Mrs. Baxter (Kogarah) and Mrs. Watson (Caulfield Vic.): Mr. A. Berruex, former member of the Dubbo Council is a brother. After a service at 3 pm yes-terday by Pastor R. A. Millsom at the Seventh Day Adventist church, the remains were en-trained for Sydney where they were cremated at Rookwood at 3.30 this afternoon. C. J. Shakespeare and Son had charge of the funeral. MRS. P. M. E. BROOKFIELD 1954 Mrs. Pearl Myrna Ernestine Brookfield of Eumungerle, died in the Base Hospital on Saturday at the age of 63. The daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Turner, Mrs. Brookfield was born in Sydney. She was married in Sydney to Mr. Henry Brookfield, who survives her with the following family: Mary (Mrs. S. Fountain), of Sydney; Dorothy, of Glen Innes; Norma (Mrs. Ted Darling) of Eumungerie; Ernest of Dubbo; and Alfred, of Eumungerie. The funeral left St. Brigid's Church at 2pm yesterday for the Catholic portion of the Dubbo cemetery. W. Larcombe and Sons were the funeral directors.
