Lachlan McKennon 1930 Old Eumungerie Man Dies The death occurred at the Dubbo District Hospital on Monday of Lachlan McKennon of Eumungerie at the ripe old age of 75 years. Deceased a single man was born at Burrow, Victoria. He was a very old and highly respected resident of Eumungerie for many years. He is survived by a sister who resides in Victoria. The remains were interred in the Presbyterian portion of the Dubbo cemetery on Tuesday morning. Rev. Chas Yuill read the burial service, and Shakespeares had charge of the funeral. Martha Annie McMillan 1941 The death occurred at the Dubbo District Hospital on Friday night, after an illness of a couple of weeks, of Mrs. Martha Anilie McMillan, of Eumungerie. The deceased, who was 63 years of age, was a well known resident or Orange, and was married to the late Ewan Cameron McMillan, who predeceased her some few years ago. She was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Taylor who were on the land in the Orange district. For many years Mrs. McMillan and her late husband had resided at Eumungerie. She is survived by two sons, Messrs. Ewan and William, both of Eumungerie. The funeral left St. Andrew's Church, Dubbo, on Saturday afternoon for the Presbyterian portion of the Dubbo Cemetery, Rev G. McLaren Scott officiating at the service. Ewan Cameron McMillan 1925 Mr. Ewan Cameron McMillan, 57, who, as stated in our last issue died in a private hospital in Dubbo last Thursday morning, was buried on Friday afternoon. The body was removed on the day of death to St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, and there the Rev. A. McCallum held a short service prior to the cortege setting out for the cemetery with Wor. Master T. J. H. Cantrill and a number of Members of the Masonic Lodge marching in front of the hearse. The funeral was very largelyattended by residents of Eumungerie, where deceased was held in the highestrespect and his many friends in Dubbo, where in the past he had been for overtwenty years working in Mr. Utley's sawmill. Mr. Donald McMillan, deceased's brother, and the Messrs. Taylor, of Pretty Plain, Milthorpe, were among the mourners. At the graveside in the Presbyterian portion of the cemetery, Rev. McCallum again officiated and delivered an impressive address. Wor. Master T. J. H. Cantrill also delivered an address.The funeral arrangements were in the hands of Mr. J. R. Tighe. EWEN CAMERON McMILLAN 1925 Just before going to press on Thursday death's call was answered by Mr. E. C. McMillan, of Eumungerie, and the fact was briefly recorded. Mr. McMillan, who resided in the district for a great many years, was only 56 years of age. He leaves a widow and two grown-up sons. Death resulted from a stroke of paralysis on the day previous, and he never regained conscious-ness before he died. Up to a few years ago the deceased managed a saw mill at Eumungerie for E. H. Utley and Co. He also had a farm in the locality. Of recent years Mr. McMillan has been conducting a sawmill of his own in company with his sons. Deceased was widely known and esteemed, and the large number that attended the funeral to the Dubbo cemetery on Friday at short notice, was a testimony of the high place he occupied in public estimation. He was accorded a Masonic burial, and a large number of brethren attended the funeral. The burial services of the Presbyterian Church were recited by the Rev. Alex McCallum. George Morton 1921 The death occurred on Saturday morning at his residence, Fitzroy Street, Dubbo of Mr. George Morton, at the age of 87 years. He had been in rather indifferent health for the lasttwelve months. He was a native of Orange, but had been living in and around Dubbo for the last 48 years. Formerly he was a carrier, but in recent years he engaged in farming pursuits in the Eumungerie district. Recently he sold out and came to Dubbo to reside. He is survived by his widow, fourdaughters and one son. The daughters are Miss Morton (Dubbo), Wallace (Mendooran) Mrs Rich (Parks), and Mrs Stig (Sydney)Ernest, the son, resides in Dubbo. The deceased had three sisters Mrs. Henry Wheeler (Dubbo), Mrs. Draper (Katoomba) Mrs. Morrison (Sydney). The interment was made on Sunday in the Church of England portion of the cemetery. The funeral was largely attended, and included a number of old companions of deceased when he was on the roads. The Rev. C. W. ALBERT (JOE) MARTIN 1954 Visitor Dies in Hotel Albert (Joe) Martin, 60, of 'Moonel,' Eumungerie, dropped dead in the Railway Junction Hotel, Dubbo, at 5 pm on Tuesday. Martin, who had a large sum of money in possession,, is believed to have suffered from a heart complaint. He was buried in the Church of England cemetery at 11 am today. Mrs. Irene M. MacKenzie 1948 Relict of the late George William MacKenzie who pre-deceased her 17 years ago, Mrs. Irene May MacKenzie passed away at Eumungerie on Sunday morning at the age of 68. She was also well-known in the Narromine district having lived there for some years prior to her husband's death. The late Mrs. MacKenzie was born at North Sydney and married at Narromine. She was formerly Miss Everingham. Four sons and two daughters survive. They are John, Leslie, Colin and Sidney of Eumungerie, Gladys (Mrs. S. Vearing, Rankin Springs) and Doris (Mrs. T. Buck, Eumungerie).The remains were buried at Narromine cemetery yesterday afternoon alongside those of her husband C. J. Shakespeare and Sons had charge of the funeral. Dubbo Liberal 26 October 1948
Irene May McKenzie 1948 Sympathy is extended to Messrs. Russell and Arthur Everingham whose sister Mrs. George McKenzle passed away at Eumungerie on Sunday. Deceased who was 68 years of age had resided for many years in Narromine prior to moving to Eumungerie. The remains were brought to Narromine on Monday and interred besides those of her husband who predeceased her many years ago. Mary Ann Mason 1947 Mrs. Mary Ann Mason A long illness was terminated by the death of Mrs. Mary Ann Mason which occurred at Dubbo Base Hospital on Sunday, at the age of 78. The deceased was born and married at Cobborah to Mr. W. H. Mason of Eumungerie where she lived the whole of her life. She is survived by her husband and an adult family. The funeral moved from the Church of England vesterday at noon for the Dubbo cemetery where the Rev. Canon Leavers conducted the burial service. C. J. John McEvoy 1919 Mr. John McEvoy, who was well-known in the Eumungerie district, died at the Dubbo District Hospital this morning, aged 67 years. Deceased was a single man. He is survived by one sister who resides at Eumungerie. Mrs. Chas. Ley, of Eumungerie, is a niece of deceased. The body was interred in the Catholic section of the Dubbo cemetery this afternoon. Minnie Mason 1945 The death occurred at the Dubbo Base Hospital on Saturday morning of Minnie May Mason, aged 82. The deceased had resided at Eumungerie for many years and had taken up residence at Wongarbon about two months before her death. She was born at Baradine and married William David Mason at Gilgandra. Deceased is survived by her husband, two sons and three, daughters. The funeral left tins Holy Trinity Church of England on Monday morning and the remains wore interred in the Dubbo Church of England cemetery. Cannon C. W. Leavers officiated at the graveside. LYELL WILLIAM MASON 1938 After five days' illness, Lyell William Mason, 17-years-old son of Mr. and Mrs. W. D. Mason, of Eumungerie, died in the Dubbo District Hospital yesterday afternoon. Born at Gilgandra he had lived at Eumungerie most of his life. The funeral will leave Holy Trinity Church at 4.30 this afternoon for the Church of England section of the cemetery, where the Rev. C. Mary McLaughlin 1949 Mrs. Peter McLaughlin - Well known Eumungerie resident, Mrs. Peter McLaughlin, died at her home, in the early hours of Wednesday morning, at the age of 67 years. Born in Glascow, Scotland, the late Mrs. McLaughlin, married there coming to Australia some 30 years ago with her husband. She accompanied her husband who took up share-farming pursuits in the Dubbo district, settling at Eumungerie 25 years ago. A married sister of deceased still resides in Glascow. Deceased is survived by her husband, Mr. Peter McLaughlin, but leaves no family. After service at Dubbo Catholic Church at 11 o'clock this morning, the funeral left for Dubbo cemetery. George McKenzie 1931 OLD IDENTITY PASSES Regrets were general and sincere when news of the death of George McKenzie was circulated on Wednesday morning. The sad occurrence took place at the Dubbo District Hospital. At one time deceased conducted a boot, repairing business in Narromine, later taking up the land and then settling in the Eumungerie district. As a very old and highly respected resident he will be remembered by Narromineitcs. A widow and large family are left to mourn his passing. Daily Liberal 11 July 1931
MR. P. M. MACINNES 1924 The death occurred on Sunday morning last of Mr. Percy Morton MacInnes, of "Baroona" estate, Balladoran, after a short illness. Pneumonia was the cause. Deceased was only 44 years old, and had been married only six years. Mrs. MacInnes being a Melbournian. Deceased was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Ewen MacInnes, of Brisbane-street, Dubbo. He leave four children and his wife to mourn his loss. The children are Margaret Ellen (5), Laura Alice (1), Morton Walter (2), and Ronald Uphill (3). Mr. P. H. MacInnes, of "Warringa," Eumungerie, is a brother. Deceased was a member of a very old and respected family, who for years followed successfully farming and pastoral pursuits in the Balladoran district. The body was brought in from "Baroona" on Sunday and was placed in the Presbyterian Church, after the service on Sunday night. The funeral took place, after a service at the church, to the Presbyterian cemetery yesterday morning, and was very large-ly attended. The Rev. A. William Maxton 1948 The funeral took place from the Church of England, Warren at 4 p.m. Sunday. W. Larcombe and Son were the funeral directors. MR. WILLIAM MAXTON. The death of Mr. William Maxton (73), of Macquarie Street, occurred at the Dubbo Base Hospital on Monday night. Deceased, who was a single man, was a returned soldier of World War I. He had lived at Eumungerie for the greater part of his life and had been employed as a sawyer at McMillan Bros. mill. He was one of the original members of the Eumungerie Branch of the R.S.S. and A.I.L.A. The funeral will take place at 10.30 tomorrow from the Presbyterian Church after a service by the Rev. M. O. Albert Mason 1930 Albert James Mason, a well-known resident of Eumungerie, and a single man, died in the District Hospital early yesterday morning, after an illness of three months. The deceased, who was 33 years of age, and the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Henry Mason, was born at Cobbora, and had spent all his life in the Dubbo district. The funeral took place to the Church of England portion of the cemetery yesterday afternoon, when the Rev. C. W. Leavers officiated at the graveside. John M. W. McKenzie 1952 Mr. John Matthew William McKenzie, of Eumungerie, died suddenly on Tuesday, while being transported to Dubbo from Eumungerie by ambulance. The late Mr. McKenzie was 51. Born at Narromine, he resided at Eumungerie for many years where he was a shearing contractor and agent. He was married at Dubbo to Miss Thelma Maude Darling, a member of a well-known Eumungerie family. She survives him with two children, John, aged 16, and Irene, 13. The funeral left the Presbyterian Church for the Dubbo cemetery at 10 am today. The Rev. M. O. Fox officiated. Messrs. C. J. Shakespeare and Sons were in charge of funeral arrangements. MR. A. C. MASON 1954 Mr. Andrew Clarence Mason, aged 55, of Eumungerie, died in the Dubbo Base Hospital on Tuesday after a short illness. The late Mr. Mason, who was a motor mechanic, was a return-ed soldier of World War 1. He served with the 7th Battalion AIF. He is survived by his wife and one daughter, Mrs. Ken Cowling, of Wentworthville; and two sons, Charles, of Queensland and Clarence, of Carinda.
